New 'FENCES' Trailer with Denzel Washington & Viola Davis
November 28, 2016Paramount Pictures released new trailer for upcoming film, Fences staring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. The film is an adaptation of playwright August Wilson's play of the same name. Directed by Denzel Washington and based on the screenplay penned by Wilson, Fences is set in 1950's Pittsburgh. The story revolves around Troy (Denzel Washington) an African-American former professional baseball player who now works as a trash collector but aspires to be a sanitation driver.
From the emotional trailer, we learn that there is discord between Troy and his son. While Troy seems to have come to terms with where he is in life, his son is not and wants to make a change. The son, Cory, wants to pursue sports as an opportunity and a means to leave the struggles of the lower-middle-class black neighborhood they live in behind. Denzel's character tries to dissuade his son from pursuing his sports dream just as his dreams were never realized after being crushed by society.
Cast of Fences
Denzel Washington (Flight)and Viola Davis (The Help, HTGWM)lead the cast in this film adaptation and reprise the Tony-winning roles they played on Broadway, Troy and Rose. They are joined by Russell Hornsby (Grimm), Stephen Henderson (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), Mykelti Williamson (Justified), and newcomers Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers) and Saniyya Sidney (American Horror Story, Roots).
