Hotel Review | Element New York Times Square West
I love NYC. New York has a special place in my heart and my travel. I love New York not just because I was born there, but because it is so diverse and has so much to see and do. I never really need an excuse to travel, but as Bae’s birthday approached there was only one place to go, New York City.
We had talked about going to the opera for a while but had not made it to one yet. So, I thought this was the perfect time and place to see an opera. I checked The Metropolitan Opera calendar to see what shows were being performed and the dates. We were in luck; Puccini’s La Bohème was being performed, and tickets were available. Yay! I bought our tickets and booked our flight. That left one more thing to do, book a hotel.
Cue WESTIN’S suite/apartment-style hotel, Element.
The Element that I stayed at is located in the heart of New York City, so it provides easy access to any and everything that you want to do while in the city. I wanted to make the most of this trip, so we took the first flight of the day from Atlanta to New York. Getting to the Element from LaGuardia Airport was so easy. You can take a taxi or Uber; we opted for the MTA (public transportation). I hopped on Google Maps to get directions. We took the Q23 to the last stop and then took the 7 train to Times Square – 42 St, and walked southwest on 7th Ave/Fashion Ave toward W 40th St. Piece of cake.
I am a Starwood’s member (now part of Marriott Hotels) and I love their hotels. I always feel like a celebrity when I stay at Starwood Hotels. It was no different during this stay. The Element New York Times Square West is an excellent place to stay while in NYC. I have stayed at this hotel at least five times and it was as great as I remembered.
The Element New York Times Square West used to be a best-kept secret in Manhattan. I found out upon check-in that the secret is out. We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 AM and the lobby area was packed with other travelers who had also arrived early and were waiting to check-in. I went to the desk to see if early check-in was a possibility (usually a big N-O in NYC so early in the day), but as luck would have it our room was ready. The icing on the cake, it was still early enough for us to grab complimentary breakfast. SCORE!
With an early morning of travel it was NECESSARY to enjoy one of my favorite things about WESTIN properties, the HEAVENLY BED. I grabbed a croissant, a yogurt, and headed to our room.
During this trip to NYC, I stayed in a Deluxe Room with views of the New York Times building and other treasures of the city.

Thanks so much for this super insightful post! We just came back from NYC. We booked a room for 3 nights at the Element and simply loved it! I want to surprise my fiancé with a trip to Western Africa (we speak three languages: English, English, and English). Any tips will be welcomed!! Thanks Kizzy! Vee
ReplyDeleteHey... how was "La bohème"? I've never been to an opera. How was it?
