Netflix Into the Inferno director Werner Herzog

The Into the Inferno trailer is overflowing with awe-inspiring visuals. Netflix’s upcoming documentary goes where many of us would not dare, Into the Inferno, well, volcanoes. The soon to be released film directed by Werner Herzog takes viewers into North Korea, another place many might not go, and according to Business Insider is “able to capture visuals of the country that have never been shown to the Western world before.”

Werner Herzog is a 74-year old German screenwriter and director who has been making films for over 50 years. With more than 70 movies to his credit, he is still passionate about his craft. Herzog is also multi-talented. The legendary filmmaker also acts in addition to writing and directing. If you have not seen his films, you may have seen his acting in Parks and Recreation or in Jack Reacher where Herzog played the villain Zec.

The Into the Inferno trailer gives us a glimpse of the wonder and power of volcanoes that Herzog, assisted by volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer, witnessed on his journey around the globe to film his latest documentary. We also see the people who live in areas near to the volcanoes, several still active, and how they survive despite the unpredictability of nature. The filmmaker told Business Insider that he wanted to examine “…the people who live under the volcano, what kind of new gods do they create? What sort of demons?”

Into the Inferno comes to Netflix on October 28th and will have a limited release in select theatres.
