In Veronika Decides to Die, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) plays a young woman, Veronika, who despite having everything wants to give up on life. She wakes up in a dreary and mysterious mental institution, after attempting to end her life by overdosing on pills, and learns that she only has weeks to live.
Gellar is joined by an exceptional cast of co-stars in this film that include Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything, Harry Potter), and two cast members from the hit TV show Parenthood Jonathan Tucker and Erika Christensen.

Based on the bestselling novel Veronika Decides to Die (1998) by Paulo Coelho, this indie sleeper directed by BAFTA winner Emily Young was originally shot in 2008 and released in 2009. Veronika Decides to Die will be released in select theaters and on VOD on January 20, 2015.
